Masters of Education Degree Opportunities
The Graduate School of Education (GSOE), offers masters of education degrees in the following programs.
- Autism Emphasis
This M.Ed. is intended to better prepare teachers for educating students with ASD in their classroom. - Diversity and Equity Emphasis
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree program is designed for educators who are interested in continuing their professional development by engaging educational theory and empirical research on student diversity and educational equity in K-12 education. - General Education with Teaching Emphasis
The emphasis is designed for students who want to pursue a Multiple Subject or Single Subject teaching credential and combine coursework for a Master of Education degree. - Higher Education Administration and Policy
This is a general higher education studies program that covers scholarship in such areas as organization and administration, students, finance, policy, and community colleges. - Reading Emphasis
This program prepares professional teachers for positions as reading specialists, coaches, directors, and professional development providers. - Special Education with Education Specialist Credential
This program goes beyond best practices, prepares students to critically evaluate the literature on current and future practices. This program was designed to provide a special education credential and a master’s degree simultaneously.
There are two areas of specialization for the education specialist credential:- The Mild/Moderate Credential authorizes the teaching of individuals with specific learning disabilities, mental retardation, other health impairments, and serious emotional disturbances. This credential also authorizes the recipient to teach in a resource specialist position (RSP).
- The Moderate/Severe Credential authorizes the teaching of individuals with autism, mental retardation, deaf-blindness, serious emotional disturbance, and multiple disabilities.
- TESOL Emphasis
This M.Ed. program focuses on the research, theory, and pedagogy related to teaching the English language to speakers of other languages.
