Project Snapshot

Variations in Fluency Procedures

Principal Investigator(s)/Project Directors:
Dr. Rollanda E. O'Connor, PI
Dr. H. Lee Swanson, Co-PI

Project Description:  Over the three years of this research, we will develop, implement, and evaluate improved approaches for developing the reading fluency of struggling readers. Components of the fluency interventions will be tested by randomly assigning 2nd and 4th grade students to specific variations and charting their progress against other students in the same classrooms. By the end of the project, we will be able to identify the effects of improvements in fluency on the reading comprehension of students across a range of characteristics.

Partners/Collaborating Institutions: Five elementary schools in Riverside Unified School District
