STEM Education and Equity

This concentration offers both an M.A. and M.Ed. option. The concentration is designed for educators, leaders, and researchers who are interested in reshaping educational experiences and opportunities via Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) access and equity. Those who pursue the STEM Education and Equity concentration should be interested in broadening participation, increasing access, and improving outcomes of minoritized students in STEM fields. This concentration will provide its students with the theoretical and practical knowledge, skills, and dispositions to become expert researchers, educators, and thought leaders who will advance educational theory, justice, research, and practice aimed at promoting equity in STEM education.

There are two degree options for STEM Education and Equity. The M.A. program is designed for students who wish to pursue original research topic related to STEM education and equity, and the M.Ed. program is designed for students who wish to evaluate an area in STEM education and equity that addresses a specific concern or issue regarding equity in STEM PK-20+ education. The final project for the M.Ed. program will aim to reshape educational experiences and opportunities in STEM.
