Partnerships That Make an Impact
Community engagement is a key component of the program's foundation. We take much pride in our partners and make sure to cultivate long-lasting partnerships in our community. We have been fortunate in gaining partnerships steadily every year since 2019 and appreciate the professional development opportunities our partners have provided to our students.

How partners can get involved
Research with faculty The CEL team assists faculty in connecting with community partners to collaborate on research projects as opportunities arise.
Service Learning Partners also have the opportunity to engage in service-learning projects with UCR faculty and students. CEL serves as the liaison between faculty and partners for these initiatives.
Offer an Internship to our Students! Students can enroll in internships offered through the Community Engaged Learning program. These internships, developed by our community partners, are available exclusively to students participating in the program.
The Details
- The Community Engaged Learning program provides two distinct cohorts each year: the Fall/Winter cohort and the Spring/Summer cohort. Students interested in applying for the Community Engaged Learning program are required to remain in the program they select for at least two quarters.
- Our partners are not required to recruit students–the Community Engaged Learning program will assist partners in connecting with students. The role of a partner is to help our students engage in meaningful experiences that allow students to apply classroom knowledge to the local community and help build professional networks.
- To become a CEL partner for this upcoming 2025 Spring/Summer cohort, submit a partner application by January 24, 2025. If your application is not submitted by this deadline, please apply for the Fall/Winter cohort in 2025.
- Spring/Summer cohort timeline:
- February 10 - March 7: CEL recruits students who are interested in participating in the 2025 Spring/Summer cohort
- March 10-14: Orientation week for CEL cohort
- March 17-24: Supervisors will be connected with the students they will be working with
