To declare the ESHD major students must be in good academic standing at the time of major change.
To declare a minor in Education or Athletic Leadership, students must be in good academic standing and have completed at least two education courses with a grade of "C" or higher, preferably by the end of their junior year.

Degree Requirements
All ESHD majors have the flexibility to choose between three concentrations:
- Education for Social Justice
- Learning and Behavioral Studies
- Teacher PATH (B.A. + Multiple Subject Teacher Credential)
Please note that all ESHD majors are also required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of Community-Engaged Learning.

Education for Social Justice
Prepares you to acquire a critical understanding of educational theory, research, policy, and practice from an interdisciplinary perspective across the educational pipeline (PK through Higher Education) with a focus on challenging inequality and promoting equity and social justice.

Prepares you to acquire an interdisciplinary understanding of research, theories, and practices that contribute to human development, learning, and behavior in the field of education.

Teacher PATH (B.A. + Multiple Subject Teacher Credential)
Earn your Bachelor of Arts in Education, Society, and Human Development (Teacher PATH Concentration) + *Multiple Subject Teacher Credential in four years.
*Students are still subject to the SOE Multiple Subject Teacher Credential admissions criteria.
Important Note: The Teacher PATH Concentration does NOT meet the criteria for subject matter competence (A Commission on Teacher Credentialing Requirement). Students who earn a B.A. in Education, Society, and Human Development (regardless of the concentration) will need to take and pay for the Multiple Subject CSET (California Subject Examinations for Teachers).
GPA & Eligibility criteria may be required. This concentration is selective and competitive.
